Ubitus Becomes Founding Member of Taiwan Cloud Computing Consortium to Accelerate Platform and Ecosystem Development

【 Taipei — Apr. 7th, 2010 】Ubitus Inc. today announced that they will become one of the founding members the Taiwan Cloud Computing Consortium, an initiative by the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), a national research organization that serves to strengthen the technological competitiveness of Taiwan. The consortium as of today has gathered more than 50 leading companies in the industry to make their effort in developing cloud computing devices, systems and value-added services. With this initiative, the government aims to create a brand new competitive advantage for Taiwan, and Ubitus will leverage its expertise in multimedia cloud computing technology to develop mature infrastructure (laaS), application platform (PaaS) and software application (SaaS) with like-minded partners.

Ubitus will focus on two of the four working groups in the consortium, “Cloud computing system” and “Cloud computing service”. With its extensive experience in software development and system integration, Ubitus hopes to contribute in aligning the technology required in building cloud computing platform. Furthermore, in light of the government’s effort in forming the cloud computing service ecosystem, Ubitus will also join the panel to discuss potential business models and form the value chain in the industry.

  • “Pocket Media Solution” is the ubiquitous media application adopted by the leading mobile phone provider, Samsung, and has pre-loaded on Omnia series mobile phones and will be available in selected regions around the globe.   • The leading mobile carrier in Japan, NTT DOCOMO launched its mobile phone service “Movie Creator” that allows users to upload, create and edit the multimedia content on Ubitus’ clouding computing platform so that they can share the latest topic and stories with video and audio effects in the most personal way.
  • NTT-AT, a subsidiary of NTT Japan released the high performance transcoding system “VAT-100”, which features AVC/H.264 HDTV Software Encoder “HDVE-100”, a product utilizing the cloud computing technology enabled by Ubitus. With VAT-100 system, high quality video can be produced with less administrative efforts and manpower. The additional benefit of storage cost reduction makes this system particularly suitable for educational organizations and ISP, whose digital contents are increasing dramatically every day.
